The Freshmobile Initiative was founded by Jeff Maurer, owner of Fresh Madison Market, during the fall of 2011. Jeff was inspired to create the Freshmobile Initiative after working with underprivileged children in the Allied Drive neighborhood through the Boys & Girls Club of Dane County. After meeting a little girl who had never tasted a blueberry, Jeff was determined to find a way to bring healthy food alternatives to neighborhoods in need across Dane County.
To ensure that Freshmobile delivers to Madison neighborhoods that are most in need of fresh food alternatives, Jeff has worked closely with the City/County Health Department, the Madison Mayor's office, and the Dane County Executive's office to pinpoint the food deserts in and around Madison that could benefit most from access to Freshmobile's produce.
A non-profit 501(c)(3) foundation, all donations made to the Freshmobile Initiative are federal and state tax-exempt.
